Year 1
The Year 1 curriculum builds upon the Early Years Foundation Stage and is the stepping-stone of Primary School. Year 1 is the beginning of Key Stage 1. Key Stage 1 consists of years 1 and 2. During Year 1, there will be a focus on reading using phonics. Children complete a Phonics Screening Check in June. This is a short assessment to determine how well children can use their phonics skills to read.
