As your child looks to transition from Primary to Secondary school, many of you will be looking at Grammar and Independent schools as options. As part of the interview process, your child may need to sit and entrance examination. This examination will cover your child's Verbal Ability (reading and comprehension), Non-Verbal Ability and Mathematics.
For those students that are looking to enter into the 13 Plus, the examination will also assess Science, History and Geography also. (Contact us for more information)
When should my child start?
Ideally, Year 4 is the best time to start the 11 Plus programme as it allows students to build on their foundations needed for the 11 Plus programme. A large proportion of content within the 11 Plus is not taught within the National Curriculum at school, therefore students may find that the content is new and requires some practise.

What is the pass rate?
The 11 Plus entrance examination is extremely competitive. In some of the most popular schools, there can be as many as 25 applicants per space. The pass rate depends on the examination board that the school uses – more information can be found on the individual school's website.
